Returning Player Registration Now Open!

SASC Families,

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! We are excited to announce that SASC priority registration is now open. Returning players can now sign-up for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

Returning players have a month to secure a spot before we open registration to new players on Sept 1st. We are NOT accepting payments at this time so it doesn’t hurt to register now if your child(ren) plan on participating this season.

We are continuing to work with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPAR) and will keep you posted with any updates. The current plan is to move our home court and play out of Rainier Community Center (for ages 10 and up).

Barry Mar passing (Updated)

It is with great sadness and our deepest sorrow that we inform our SASC membership of the passing of Barry Mar, our beloved friend, coach and mentor. Barry passed peacefully on March 10, 2021 after a brief illness.

In 1993, the Seattle Asian Sports Club was created. That year, Barry, as its founding President, wrote:

“SASC intends to continue to promote an environment in which new friendships can be forged and old friendships renewed”

During the twenty-seven years since then, SASC’s success comes from the very foundation of Barry’s vision.

We thank him for teaching us to reach out to each other in the spirit of bringing out our best selves. Barry’s legacy will be the indelible impact he had on the hundreds of players, coaches and parents that went well beyond basketball.

“Ultimately the game is not about winning. Whether in life or in basketball, it is not about winning. It is about doing and giving your best AND making your best better.”  Barry Mar 1988

Barry, you were the standard bearer of our organization and we miss you.
