Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. With school approaching, we know there is a lot of new information to take in and a lot of tough decisions for parents to make. SASC may be on your radar and we wanted to keep you posted.
As you may be aware, SASC is reliant on Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPAR) for practice time and league play. As of today, no decisions have been made by SPAR for fall and winter sports. If the community centers continue to remain closed for activities then we unfortunately will NOT be able to compete this season.
Your health and safety is a priority. If SASC is able to hold a season, we will be following the lead of other organizations who have already started this journey and will also take into account all recommendations from the CDC, Washington State’s Phased Approach, King County and local government. Our COVID-19 health and safety policies and procedures will reflect the changing times and as of now will include
- temperature check of all players and coaches before practice, anybody with a fever is not allowed to enter the facility
- apply hand sanitizer (before and after practice)
- sanitizing of all equipment including basketballs before and after practice
- one basketball per player, no sharing of basketballs
- masks (player provided)
- players and coaches only in the gym, no parents
Please note that due to the West Seattle bridge closure, we are working with SPAR to switch our home base away from Delridge. If there is a season, there is a possibility we may play and practice out of Rainier Community Center.
We will be opening registration for the upcoming season to returning members on September 1st. Registering will reserve your spot on the team and NO payment will be due. Open registration for new members will begin on Oct 1st. Your registration will help gauge membership interest in this environment and help us plan for next steps.
SASC is doing everything possible for players, families and coaches to feel safe to play basketball. Things continue to evolve and we will keep you updated as we wait for additional guidance from SPAR.
